1. I started class yesterday. Math is hard. I hate things that don't come easily.

2. Grab a can. Throw some coins in. Cover it so the coins can't get out. Anytime she misbehaves then shake it in her face. 99% of dogs hate it. Very efective.

Dixie appears to be all better, but she is a huge pain in the ass. We can't tell if shes deaf or just stubborn, but she doesn't listen to us saying no even when we yell it and pull her away from something. The next few months will be trying times. E'Lise still doesn't have a job :( I keep hoping she'll get one soon.

Correction: her name is Dixie. And she already has worms :( So ec and I have to go back to the shelter we got her from and get some shots to give her over the next 3 days to get rid of it. Good times. Civ 4 is awesome.

Jason: We are getting a dog. Her name is (probably) Casey, and she is a big Black Lab and something else (possibly Great Dane). Further bulletins as events warrant.

Ec: She's super cute!

Today/tonight, Kenny and I celebrate 2 years of our relationship. I worked for the morning and beginning of the afternoon, but after that we made plans for each other, went hiking, went to dinner, visited a friend, and now we're home for martinis and video games. Apparently, I'm good with the sweet flavored martinis.

I got this beautiful pendant and earrings set with the stone I want in my engagement ring. He is VERY aware of this. Dinner was at a really nice italian place.

Overall, a splendid anniversary and I'm excited to be spending more of my life with this man.

Wow that's a very long article with no chapter breaks! ;) Probably long overdue. I'm curious to see how it does. I think the key will be to make the gaming championship be the game as it is being played not them playing the game. Imagine the insane possibilities!

Professional gaming is hitting the bigtime:

DIRECTV Unleashes Global Gaming Phenomenon to More Than 100 Million Homes Worldwide with Championship Gaming Series FATAL1TY TRADES IN MOUSE FOR MICROPHONE AS EXCLUSIVE COMMENTATOR FOR DIRECTV’S INTERNATIONALLY TELEVISED VIDEO GAMING LEAGUE Las Vegas, Nevada, January 8, 2007 — DIRECTV, the nation’s leading satellite television service provider, announced today at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show that it is taking the sports entertainment world by storm with launch of the Championship Gaming Series, an international video gaming league which will broadcast to over 100 million homes worldwide starting in Spring 2007 and airing nationally on DIRECTV’s The 101. The Series, which was originally announced last year, will expand to feature teams from North America, Latin America, United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia as the world’s top pro gamers battle in cyber-space for the international title and over $1 million in prize money. DIRECTV is in final discussions with global entertainment giants British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) and STAR Asia, among others, to build an international network and to broadcast the Championship Gaming Series. In addition to international televised distribution, the series will partner with Internet powerhouse IGN Entertainment, a unit of Fox Interactive Media, to provide online coverage, creating a multi-platform opportunity to bring gaming to the masses. Gaming legend Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel will capture the action as the exclusive play-by-play commentator and global league spokesperson and advisor. With a roster of the best pro gamers in the world, unparalleled production values and best-in-class televised sports-style coverage, the series will be the dominant force in professional gaming worldwide. The series will take the exploding phenomenon of professional gaming to the next level with high-definition televised league play using advanced technology to take viewers inside the games themselves. For the first time in the history of the sport, team members who qualify for the Championship Gaming Series will be drafted by franchises and paid salaries as full-time pro gamers. Team franchises will be led by salaried General Managers, who are established leaders in competitive gaming. "We couldn't help but notice that gaming had actually become a sport. Not only in the way the gamers created teams to compete, but also in their conditioning and mind set and dedication while playing. So it wasn't a quantum leap to then determine if it was becoming a sport, we should cover it like a sport, said David Hill, President, DIRECTV Entertainment. “The reaction to our first production, the Championship Gaming Invitational, was little short of phenomenal, so it was a no-brainer to take this next logical step to create the series. We believe the combination of a world wide broadcast platform, coupled with forward thinking partners like Mountain Dew, will create a brand new sport which is truly universal. Championship Gaming Series has the potential to become the next soccer in terms of world wide appeal.” The series will employ industry giants to transform the game action into compelling television for both gamers and non-gamers alike. Fatal1ty, who after dominating the sport for seven years, will take on a new role as exclusive play-by-play commentator for the Series. Eleven-time Emmy Award-winner Mike Burks will control multiple high-definition cameras, as well as virtual cameras to cover all the action, both on and off the playing field. With its unparalleled production value and televised sports-style coverage, the Championship Gaming Series will set the standard for professional gaming competitions worldwide. “DIRECTV really understands the nature of gaming and has figured out how to turn the sport I love into something that gamers and non-gamers will enjoy on television,” said Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel. “I can’t wait to take over the microphone and play such an important role in the evolution and expansion competitive video gaming. Championship Gaming Series is going to be the best platform for aspiring gamers to realize what it takes to become an international gaming champion.” “We are excited about the Championship Gaming Series and look forward to becoming the lead gaming and broadcast partner for the Series in the UK and Ireland. Gaming fits squarely into Sky’s strategy for providing an unmatched in-home entertainment experience and we look forward to moving ahead with the project,” comments James Baker, Managing Director of Sky Networked Media. Championship Gaming Series will be structurally based in five regions around the world – North America, Latin America, UK, Europe and Australia/Asia/Middle East. Each region will host online qualifiers and live tournament events to determine the teams which will represent each area. From those competitions, four champion teams will emerge and compete in the league’s Grand Slam round. Grand Slam winners, both individuals and teams, will advance to the Championship Gaming Series World Championship, which will be hosted in the United States. “The Championship Gaming Series has the potential to transform the professional gaming industry,” said Frank Cooper, vice president, flavored soft drinks, Pepsi-Cola North America. “As a founding partner of the series, Mountain Dew sees this as a unique opportunity to redefine our role in the world of gaming, supporting a unique initiative that enables gaming enthusiasts get closer to the latest technology.” Championship Gaming Series teams will consist of squads dedicated to playing specific game genres, including racing, fighting, action/adventure/strategy and first person shooters. In the United States, the series will have six regional teams comprised of the best players in each gaming genre. DIRECTV’s first U.S. Championship Gaming Invitational (CGI), which aired in July of 2006, was held in a 16,000-square-foot airplane hanger, at the former Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco. Competitors faced off in games such as Electronic Arts™ Battlefield 2™, Microsoft Game Studio’s™ Project Gotham Racing® 3 and Halo® 2, for prizes and instant money payouts. First prize winners included complexity, 20ID, Jason "FiddyownsU" Hodges, Joe "Phantom Hitman" Tackett and Emmanuel "MASTER" Rodriguez. The second CGI took place at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, CA on December 16 and will premiere on DIRECTV’s The 101 in February, 2007.

Well then you are in for a treat! The Darla thing get's even better. There are a few benefits to standard TV watching though. For example there was some interplay between season 1 of Angel and Season 4 of Buffy. Faith being the biggest but there was also the ring and when Buffy visited etc. In the very first episode Angel calls Buffy and hangs up. And when Buffy is in her dorm room she gets a call and answers but the caller hangs up! :) Don't know if you noticed that one! Anyways it was a wise investment though you always could have borrowed most of the seasons from me. I love spreading Angel and Buffy around. Take Care

Never seen Angel. I bought all the seasons for Christmas with the money I got. I just finished season one and I'm 4 episodes into season 2. The whole Darla thing - SO COOL.

So yes, I'm seeing and experience all of it for the first time. I never saw any of Buffy or Angel while they were actually airing. I'm still not much of a standard TV person. I like watching when I want, not when a network thinks I should.

Joss doesn't kill characters for substance he does it because he finds it fun. He likes the radical alteration of relationships and watching and writing how the characters deal with it. Listen to his interviews from Season 5 of Angel and you'll see it. Am I to understand you have not yet seen all of Angel? I thought you had.

You may also be interested to know Joss did not kill Doyle. David Greenwalt did. And even taunted fans on message boards that he'd do it again. But you will grow to love Wesley. He becomes a much deeper less one-dimensional character. But Doyle dying was very sad. I cried a little.

To Jason: Suck it up and kill people dude! I mean you'll never know unless you try. You may like it. :-P
I think everyone that joins the armed forces (except for people I'd never like to be around) wonder that very thing. And even if you can DO it I doubt most come to LIKE it. So it's understandable you'd have reservations. But if you truly believe whatever youre doing is just, I have confidence you could defend yourself and your country. Especially from up in a helicopter. It's fairly impersonal from that distance and height. Seeing that video, not to be blase or unfeeling, but that was like a video game. Not the same thing as looking someone in the eye before you kill them. And it's not as if you're hunting down innocent people and murdering them. You'd be killing dangerous people that would kill you or your feelow soldiers. Soldiers protect. That all being said there's no reason to be a gunship pilot just to feel bad ass. If you're happy with transports do that. You need a better reason to be a gunship pilot.

Jason, I think safer is always better, but I have no experience. But a dead Jason would be very sad. Also, the phone tag is getting silly - we've been trying since Christmas eve and it's already Jan. 9th. When is a good time for you? =P

---POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR ANY ONE INTO AND WATCHING BUFFY AND ANGEL---

Dear Joss,

I get it. Killing important characters makes you feel like your show has more substance. Buffy got axed more than once, Angel, her mom, Jenny, Tara, and even Anya in the last goddamn episode...

But now I'm watching Angel and why the fuck did you have to kill Doyle?!?!?! I liked him, punk. Now I'm stuck with the annoying brittish snob. So lame.

One thing that has plauged me since joining the Army is the question of whether or not I am prepared to kill people. I have no problem being a part of the army, because I've come to believe that wars can be just, so being a soldier in one can be just. But I wonder how I would feel if I was the one actually pulling the trigger. One would think (rightly) that this is a question I should have answered, if not before signing up, than certainly by this point. I think that what keeps happening is I come up with an answer but it doesn't stick, and several months later I am left wondering again. The question is before me now because I have to start thinking about which of the 4 Army helicopters I want to fly. Two of them are transports where the pilot/co-pilot aren't involved with the weapon systems, and two are gunships where the pilots have direct control of the weapons, and their whole mission is to use them against people. There are less opportunities for gunship pilots, but they are the more respected, and downright badass platforms than the transport birds. I'm not sure how to think about this, but I suspect that the fact I have doubts means I should probably stick with transport.

I love Joss Whedon, but it's my personal opinion that Firefly SUCKED. I didn't see Serenity, but I was forced to watch Firefly so many times over and I hate it.

I'm very curious to see what his next project will be.

I like movies and TV. I like TV because the character growth and development is way deeper, but I like getting wrapped into movies without breaks for 2 hour periods. Even with TV on DvD, I'm reminded of the real world when I pick the episode to watch.

I'm in Fresno right now and bored. God it sucks to have nothing to do out here.

I finally have the internet again!! And I say movies are better because they have higher productions values, and for some reason I just don't like episodic content. There are few television shows that I really like, and I think most of them count as miniseries like Band of Brothers, the only exception that I can think of being Firefly.

Yes definitely. What's a two hour movie to days worth of story material?

I finished season one of Grey's Anatomy tonight. It's good, but I'm not going to rave about it like I do about Buffy or Scrubs.

Next I'm watching Angel. I want to get the X-Files on DvD too. So much good TV. Movies can't even compare it seems.
