Named after the creator, Mike, four most frequent posters, Brittany, Jason, Anna, Sarah and newest member Dorothy. archives Sunday, November 26, 2006 I do not <3 NY. I hung out with Derek Calhoon over my Thanksgiving Pass in New York. Most of the time we spent in a town near Albany, and that was great. The family we stayed with was incredibly friendly and generous, and it was fun just hanging out with derek. I was scheduled to fly from La Guardia on Saturday night, but I was on standby. I couldn't get on any of the flights back to Atlanta, so I had to spend the night in the airport. At some point during the night, someone stole my iPod. While the loss of my sole access to music would normally be bad enough, Derek had just hooked me up with a bunch of porn that I never got to watch. I finally caught a flight out at 6am this morning but didn't get breakfast because the restauraunts don't open until after I had to board. Then once I got to Atlanta it took me about an hour to find the shuttle I needed to take to get back to Ft. Benning, so I've had a pretty shitty last 20 or so hours. posted by Jason 8:26 AM Friday, November 24, 2006 Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was enjoyable. We managed to get through it without Deidra flying into a hysterical rage. Good Times. posted by Mikael, Shady, God 2:53 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 I had kind of a rough morning. It started out great with a really nice dream: I was in a theater, and I had just found my seat when the lead actress started singing a love song, and she started singing to me, and then she came off stage and started cuddling with me and stuff. Good times :) But then, I cant remember how the transition happend, I was on some kind of country farm. I had my dog with me, a really old golden retriever. I decided to go exploring, leaving through a hole in the bushes in the back yard. I was excited about going, but then I saw my dog kind of limping along up to me wimpering. She wasn't injured, just too old to go with me. I could tell that she wanted to, but she just couldn't do it. I was really sad and held her and cried. Then my next dream I don't remember much about except that there was some kind of monster. It looked like a human at first, but he was really hostile and malevolent. He started pulling out these different weapons and tossing them at me. They didn't harm me, but he was saying something about how they could all hurt me. I was throwing the daggers and stuff back at him, and even stabbed him in the stomach with a sword but it didn't affect him at all. He just had this big evil grin, and I started slashing at his face, and making the smallest of cuts which didn't bleed or seem to affect him at all. Then I woke up to pounding on my door. My roommate was comming back and had forgotten his key. I couldn't really sleep after that. posted by Jason 5:43 AM Thursday, November 16, 2006 I've been spending a lot of time in bed the last week and so I started a new warlock in WoW. I think I started her on Monday night and she got 15 last night. I haven't been sleeping well, I think particially because of the pain, which as subsided now, and stress...I've been up til 3am almost every night this week. 4 hours of sleep is not enough. But I'm not tired. Excitement about the birthday? I have no idea. But I want more sleep. I've been thinking about the whole HPV thing. Apparently Kenny's ex has it too...I not placing blame, but I think he may be where I got the dangerous strain from. Kinda sucks, but life goes on. At least I don't have to worry about past ex's. =/ posted by Anonymous 12:19 PM Yeah I know the vaccine (and all about it and HPV THANK YOU LOVELINE) I mentioned it as soon as it came out and suggested everyone go get it. 360$ is worth it. As soon as they know whether it's useful for men I'm going to get it. But I'd say this still counts as lucky. It's not as serious as it could be. You're going to be all right so I'm going to classify it as OK news. posted by Mikael, Shady, God 10:09 AM Monday, November 13, 2006 It appears that I am less lucky this time around. I'm still waiting for results. But it turns out that I a STD called HPV. It's not terribly worrisome because apparently 80% of people have it and don't have symptoms, so they aren't even aware they are carrying it. Even worse is that the virus only causes cancer in women. There are 40 strains of the disease, but only 4 are known that cause cancer. Men can also contract the disease and spread it. At the moment, they think that the disease can be spread via skin contact, so there isn't much you can do to avoid it. You probably have it, even if you haven't had sex. There is no test available for men, and I don't know the availability of testing for women. They recently released a vaccine, but I don't think it's covered by all insurance plans. (Its like $360 for all three shots to complete the vaccine though.) So yeah. I'm trying to stay upbeat, but it's been a rough couple of days. Yay for cancer. On a slightly happier note, the cancer is not life threatening to me in the current stage and I can have it removed to permanently cure me of this particular type. The removal is dependant on how my test results come back. However, I will carry the virus for life. posted by Anonymous 1:08 PM Sunday, November 12, 2006 With any luck it will be just like all the other times. Don't let it get to you. posted by Mikael, Shady, God 4:27 AM Friday, November 10, 2006 Good luck. I'll be thinking about you Brit. posted by Jason 10:21 AM Thursday, November 09, 2006 For the third time in my life, I was told that I might/have cancer. The doctor called my cell phone as I was getting ready for work this morning. She needed to get in touch with me that badly. I'm pretty upset. More tests tomorrow for more information. Right now...I'm just trying to get through the day. posted by Anonymous 1:51 PM Tuesday, November 07, 2006 I was missing Warcraft hardcore the other day- those few raids I was on were so fun. I remember that I was getting tired of all the busy work outside of raids (harvesting anything mean crazy amounts of repetition that I don't miss at all), but I still remember the great feeling of seeing the bosses fall, and wondering if I'd get any phat lewtz. Oh well. posted by Jason 4:13 PM Monday, November 06, 2006 Go with Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. I STILL play that sometimes. posted by Mikael, Shady, God 1:07 AM Saturday, November 04, 2006 Hail from Fort Benning Georgia, home of the infantry. I've been here for a week, and it's a pretty cool place. Unfortunately, I'm finding that the weekends can be pretty tedious when one doesn't have a car. I'd like to buy a computer game, but it can't be anything new because E'Lise's laptop isn't made for gaming. I figure it should be able to handle some of the older games though, but I'm not sure what to get. Any reccomendations? I think I want something strategic rather than a shooter or something based on reflex. posted by Jason 6:28 PM Friday, November 03, 2006 My halloween was spent inprocessing and doing really stupid crap. I've been at Ft. Benning GA since last Saturday, and it's been really boring so far. I'm starting to get to know people, so things are picking up, but real training doesn't start until next monday. E'Lise is taking the GRE today, so everyone send her good vibes. posted by Jason 5:00 AM Thursday, November 02, 2006 That sucks because my halloween rocked so hard. I was a vampire priest. Had some awesome vampire tooth caps. I'll tell you all about it later. posted by Mikael, Shady, God 4:27 PM Wednesday, November 01, 2006 Halloween is usually my favorite holiday, but this year I just couldn't get into it. No costume. No candy. And then I wound up sick. My roommates did the pumpkin carving thing and that was cool. We had a total of one trick-or-treater too. It's just not how I remember it when I was a kid. There is a vampire ball or something this weekend, but I don't know if I want to go. Being sick just sucks. But it's my neice's 5th birthday today and that is pretty cute. posted by Anonymous 5:43 PM |
