You can't announce something so exciting and then not give the details Brat. Why are you going? Who are you going with? etc.

Sounds like this would be a good time to announce I to, will be doing some traveling this summer. On June 15, I'm leaving for Germany. From there, I will go to Poland, the Czech Republic, England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. I may also swing by France, but I'll have to see what time I have once I'm there. I'll be coming back to the states on July 27, so that'll be a month and a half to explore the world. I'm excited.

Cadet Jason Hall is speaking about himself in the third person. I like it. So Korea. A land so in love with videogames people can support themselves by playing video games professionally. YOu have got to sneak off base for a bit and check it out fully.

The Army announced last Friday that after Cadet Jason Hall, a junior at Seattle U, attends the usual 30 day training camp at FT Lewis, WA this summer starting June 13, they will be sending him to Korea for 3 weeks. Cadet Hall will be participating in Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT), essentially job shadowing a Military Police platoon leader. When asked about the opportunity Hall replied, "Well, everyone in the Battalion who has been to Korea raves about the experience, so I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been out of the country since a trip to Canada that I can't even remember, so it will be a great chance to experience another culture." When asked whether he is considering applying to be branched MP, Hall said "I'm considering it. MP has always been near the top of the list, but I'm not really sure what it involves, so this will be a good chance to see if MP is for me." Several others in Hall's class will be participating in CTLT, but Hall is the only one who will be leaving the country.

In other news, Hall participated in a simulated tactical mission at Ft Lewis this past weekend. The mission was a recon "to confirm or deny the presence of enemy ADA (Air defense artillery) assets in the vicinity of Donovan Hill". Upon arriving at Donovan Hill, Hall's small recon group found only water towers. "By the time we found the real objective, we didn't have time to make a sketch of it, only confirm its presence." Hall reports having a good time, but lamented the loss of study time. "I'll have to stay up late tonight to catch up with study time I lost." When asked what 'late' meant, Hall said late to him was 11 or 12. When asked why he was such a sissy-pants college student, Hall declined to comment.

So at work today an interesting conversation came up that I've brought up with some of you before. Cartoons. Specifically the fact we lived in a golden age of cartoons and the poor kids nowadays have shit to watch. There's adult swim but that is clearly for adults. Whatever happened to shows like X-men, Spiderman, Exo Squad, Carmen San Diego, Reboot, Beast Wars etc.

I was amazed at the similarity in what shows we had watched and enjoyed. It was freaky really. We didn't even need to remember their names and we'd recognize the show the other was bringing up in a second. In fact Danny and I spent half an hour trying to remember what the hell exo squad was called. I remembered exo eventually and he remembered squad. So clearly these shows hit the mark. I think what made them so great was that they were like actual shows but in a cartoon form and kept from being TOO graphic. So it wasn't quite for kids but not so adult. Like Harry Potter which is actually quite adult but enjoyable even to kids by being kept relatively simple. I seriously believe we should just take the entire show and bring them back. Re-air them from the beginning. It'd save money not having to produce new ones and a younger generation could enjoy them all over again.

But that's not why I'm blogging about it. I am blogging because once we had brought up all these shows I had practically forgot existed I started remembering a LOT about them. Like entire episodes and story arcs. And this is like 10 years ago haven't thought about it since stuff. Makes me wonder what else is floating around in there just below my stream of thoughts waiting for the the right trigger to flood over. I don't know about most of you but screw that social gathering called church where I learned a lot of bullshit. TV taught me a lot more about morality. How many tv episodes preached tolerance, compassion, etc. Now how much tv did you watch as a kid? :) How much of what makes me ME is what I watched. I couldn't possibly have all that come up so easily if it hadn't impacted me. And if it impacts you it stays with you. And really all that stuff that stays with you (aka experiences) makes you the person you are. If so, I'm happy with what I chose to watch. Not neccessarily because I'm so happy with who I am but what I try to be because of it.

Aw. Why is Munky not feeling well?

And I'm not really getting enough sleep between the homework, the boyfriend, and the video games, but I'm going up to Yosemite this weekend, so maybe I'll relax a bit up there.

And I look like a librarian today. Heh.

So, the LAN party was had. I had a lot more fun than I thought I would. I actually brought a book so that I wouldn't be bored, but I didn't pick it up once.

We played Unreal Tournement, which is pretty awesome, even though I majorly suck. I wanted to play Half Life 2, but nooooo....they wanted to play Line of Duty. I didn't like that one, so I didn't join in on any big games, but I did play a couple rounds just with the boyfriend. I'm sure it just like target practice for him, only with me pouting at him.

Anyway, we stayed til just after 2am (it started at 4pm), when I got a little...uh...antsy? Yeah. I was distracting him. Anyway, we off for our own fun and got home around 4am. Woke up for the one month thingie, homemade breakfast, and then drove home so that he could make it to work and so that I could go watch FOTR, TT, and ROTK all extended versions, all in a row, at a nice theater in Niles. :) My butt was totally numb, but it was great.

Back to school and work for the weekend, and then I'm off to Yosemite for the weekend. Busy me.

I went to Spokane with the other senior Orientation staff members for a conference of professional Orientation people. I had no idea how many people have lives that pretty much revolve around getting new students to feel good at their school. We got in friday night at 10:30 and pretty much just went to bed. Saturday had some cool presentations, but the real fun was that night. Most of the undergrads there were very similar in personality, so we all got along well. A small group of us wandered around downtown Spokane and then had dinner at some place called Sawtooth Grill and I had some awesome fish&chips. Then we went bowling, and that was the big fun. There were some very attractive females with us, and watching them celebrate good rolls was great. There was booty shakin, booty droppin, and you remember that wrestling thing where guys would point at their crotch and say "suck it"? Well these girls were doing that but pointing to their breasts. Wow. I only wish I could have had some beer (2 months). It was all paid for by the confrence too, so the only cost to me was the 5 bucks I lost to my friend on a round (he beat me by 2 pins). I'd pay 5 bucks for bowling and a show any day. Good times.

You should definitely let us know how it goes Brat.

And speaking of partying and southern California I just got back from LA. I went to see Anna in a play called "Cry Havoc." It was very good and Anna was amazing which is good because there's not much worse than having a good friend suck at something. You don't want to tell the truth but you also try to avoid lying. But she was incredible so I didn't have to worry. Everyone that saw the play agreed since they all came up to tell her afterwards. I imagine that must feel great. I personally would hate the attention.

Afterwards we went to the afterparty where I proceeded to get totally plastered. I can tell you very little obviously, one moment I was buzzed and at the party and the next I was waking up on Anna's air mattress with no pants on and a stain on my shirt. Now there is just a gaping hole in my memory from when I came out of the bathroom (I did not throw up) to waking up. In hindsight Anna was probably right. I should have stopped when I finished off the Jack Daniel's straight from the bottle which garnered me a bit of respect with the locals. Especially one named Scott that wished to shake my hand. But the straight vodka afterwards was too much. It's very dissapointing nopt being able to remember. All I know is what Anna told me and she didn't know how drunk I was till she found me to leave. On the upside according to her I was a very friendly drunk. I slurred my words, had trouble walking to the car (what should have taken a minute took 10 in the pouring rain), fell down a lot, laughing hysterically when I did, and was very complimentary.
She was a little pissed in the morning since she was afraid I had alcohol poisoning which for future references ....

If you have any of the following symptoms, you are experiencing an overdose reaction:

  • Vomiting
  • Passed out
  • Difficult to awaken
  • Slow, shallow breathing
I had none of these so she needn't have worried. Apparently she also tried to get me to take some Advil before I went to sleep which I was unable to do and they fell out of my mouth staining my shirt. On a positive note I had no hangover but I was very groggy. And that's all I really know about my first time being truly drunk.

Well that was my Friday night and Saturday morning. What did you guys do?

Thanks for the chocolates, Mike. I devoured them. :)

I just got my first tutorial in first person shooter games last night. The boyfriend and I are attending a LAN party in Fresno...he wants me to play because he doesn't want people to think less of me or worry that I'm not having fun or whatever. So. He convinces me to learn. I tried Half Life 2 (HEAD CRABS SUCK) and Unreal Tournement, but I didn't actually do anything in the latter. Anyway, I'm bad because I don't like to kill people (unless you piss me off and then all I want to do is kill you). I'd rather just pick stuff up, throw it around, and make things explode.

Guess I'm a girl afterall. Whatever. I'm going. I'm playing. I'll probably even like it. We're also playing some crime game. I might also end up trying Starcraft or Warcraft. Eeesh. I don't want to get addicted to the pretty games...

I've also just got into web comics. (Where was I, living under a rock?) Questionable Content, Queen of Wands (chick comic, totally), Mac Hall comics, Something Positive (haven't started yet), and Penny Arcade (also haven't started yet). It's fun.

So. Yeah. Whee. My first LAN party. I'll have to let you know how it goes.

Rome Total War is awesome Jason and you were right the final level of HL2 when he gravity gun gets an upgrade is freaking sweet. Valentine's coming up I hope everyone has something in the works. Im working but it beats being alone on a day designed to rub your face in it.

I hit the infamous lvl 40 in WoW the other day. Level 40 is a big landmark, because you gain access to mounts (making a huge dent in travel times). The problem is, the mount is mad expensive. My advice to you mike, start saving as early as possible. Get your weapons and armor from quest drops starting around 35, and only buy your class abilities as often as possible. Which class/race are you playing anyway? Also, is it earthen ring you want me to start a horde character on? I'll start playing without you so that you don't have to come into the newbie area.

Why?

Because a panda eats, shoots, and leaves.

Just letting everyone know my sister Sarah almost died because she flipped her car down a hill. She's now one of those miraculous survivors that walks away relatively unscathed after totaling their car. This is actually kind of old news but Im trying to get in the habit of posting such things here again. But yeah her car which is nicer than mine or Ashley's is now smashed to shit.
