Named after the creator, Mike, four most frequent posters, Brittany, Jason, Anna, Sarah and newest member Dorothy. archives Sunday, August 31, 2003 today sucked, though i think most of the suckiness could have been avoided with better planning on our part. we decided to take it easy and not rush over there and wed just miss the first band, the thermals. wed get there in time to get in for vendetta red, and stay for american hi-fi. what happened though was we took a wrong turn and had to park a long ways away, and didnt get there in time for vendetta red. so we just messed around for a while, then went back to see hi-fi. i guess everyone who watched vendetta red though stayed for american hi-fi because the house was at maximum capacity 30 minutes before the show was supposed to start. that pissed us off even more. with nothing else to do, we went to the film festival and watched 3 short films. the first was, ok. some guy was in a diner having lunch, trying to figure out how to ask to sit next to a girl he was attracted to. he spent so long being indecisive that she left before he could. but then before she left she tried to say something to him but didnt have the guts either. the next one was very weird. two people dressed weird with weird makeup were sitting on a weird couch in a weird room. i dont really have the words or patience to explain it better because the film was only a few minutes long. the next one was a character study about a girl living in japan who kinda falls for a teacher but then when he tries to make it with her she stops. it didnt make a whole lot of sense, but i guess it was alright. after that we headed out and got some food at the little mall/food court in seattle center. then we headed out to the main stage to wait for the cold/evanescence show schedualed for later. we got there and hour and a half before the doors were supposed to open, but we were NOT going to miss another show. they actually opened the doors a half hour earlier than planned, but it didnt really matter cause they still started the show at 8, so we still waited a total of 2.5 hours. boring. at one point the crowd that was gathered in front of the stage (we were in the bleachers) started throwing plastic water bottles around. soon there were bottles flying everywhere. most of them were empty, but some were full and probably got people all sticky when they landed. i was thankful we were in the stands. then a fucking 2 liter of pepsi that was still 1/4 or 1/2 full flew out of the stands and hit some girl in the head. the cops went up and actually found the guy who threw it, and the whole stadium cheered as the put the cuffs on him and led him away. cold started at 8, and i wasnt very impressed. i liked 1 or 2 of their songs, but for the most part i was kinda bored, cause they sounded like every other metal band out there. evanenscence rocked the house, and the stadium was nearly full for their show. i liked going under the best, followed by a cover they did of a smashing pumpkins song (zero we think), and then their hit single save me. ryan and i left early, and got back to our car much relieved (based on where we parked we were a little worried about getting towed) and headed home. overall i wasnt a very big band of bumbershoot, but luckily each day there was one band to save it. next year ill probably only go if i really like the line up, and ill know how to plan it a lot better. i think part of what i didnt like was that there were just SO MANY PEOPLE. you couldnt walk anywhere without having to weave in and out of a crowd. thats no fun. posted by Jason 11:45 PM Saturday, August 30, 2003 i just got back from my first day at bumbershoot. it was fun, but for the most part i was a little dissapointed. the first thing we did was, well, get food, but then we went and saw minus the bear. GREAT songs, GREAT performance. it seems like so many bands that i like sound great in the recording studio but when they play live they fall apart. not so with minus the bear, they sounded just like their recorded songs, which i really appreciate. after that we went to a freaking breakdancing show, which blew. seriously. i can appreciate the skill but i dont enjoy watching it. then we just sat around for a while cause there was nothing to do. then we got some more food. then we went to see this "comedy" routine called 'see me naked'. i thought it was going to be funny cause it had great reviews, but it turned out to be really, really, really boring. lots of people in the audience were laughing, but ryan (my cousin and show buddy) and i had no idea why. in the end it was more about "lets all feel good about nudity" than anything funny, and we left very dissapointed. i lost a dollar to ryan cause i had bet that it would be a good show. i probably should have payed him more, it was that boring. and yes, we did see her naked at the end, but it wasn't anything spectacular. after that debacle chris (ryans friend and our other show buddy) got some ice cream, and we sat around talking about how bad the show was, then we went to see the dandy warhols play. they were 30 minutes late comming on because of technical difficulties, and when they finally came on, i was again, VERY dissapointed. the only songs of theirs that ive heard are 'last junkie on earth' and 'bohemian like you'. i really like those two songs, but the songs the warhols played were NOTHING like those. they were really slow, repetitive, and generally boring. they were accented by some 'psychadelic' rainbow crap being projected on the stage behind them. we speculated that these were for the benefit of those in the audience on drugs, which based on the amount of applause the band was getting, was everyone. we left as soon as they played the two songs theyre known for, and so did half of the audience it seemed. now im home, and despite this mostly negative review, im looking forward to going back tomorrow. evanescence is playing in the evening. ya. posted by Jason 11:37 PM Friday, August 29, 2003 Every last picture on my computer is gone...I'm talking 100s of pictures. I kept all the pictures for everyone cause I have the website (or had, soon to have again...maybe...)...I don't know. My whole computer is fucked. I just it back to normal. posted by Anonymous 12:39 AM Thursday, August 28, 2003 I'm going to see the Goo Goo Dolls again!!! In a week!! And I'm going to be within touching distance when I get up and move from my seat! And I can bring a camera! The only crappy part is that I'm going by myself and its 2 1/2 hours away, but to me its worth it. I loved these guys since the 6th grade or something. posted by Anonymous 10:27 AM Wednesday, August 27, 2003 WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Im back online on my own computer!!!!! online gaming here i come!!! posted by Jason 7:20 PM Tuesday, August 26, 2003 Heh. I know that feeling, but then my parents go out of town all the time, which also pisses me off, so they can't win with me. But they bought be a shirt yesterday, which I thought was neat. Anyway, I'm in math again. But I don't feel like doing math. Its that whole hating numbers business, you know? So, any volunteers to do the easy algebra math for me? Probably not. All music hardware bought by boys I'm dating or dated is cursed. My CD player (which Ryan bought me with his discount) has gotten worse and worse. First, it just skipped a lot. Usually with scratched CDs, which I was understanding of. Then it wouldn't play burned CDs. Now it won't even play professional CDs. I've only had the thing for a couple months. Ryan aslo bought a whole lot of performance plans for me, so I'm going to the best buy that he doesn't work at to see if they'll let me return it or something. I'd be better off without a CD player at this rate. At least I wouldn't be frustrated that my music can't play. Enough rambling. The numbers are calling me to my doom. posted by Anonymous 10:48 AM Monday, August 25, 2003 im glad school is getting close to starting again, if only because ill get away from my parents. it seems like everything they do anymore irritates me way more than it should, especially my mom. ah, to live on my own again. that will be sweet indeed. posted by Jason 10:01 PM Sunday, August 24, 2003 awesome webpage: http://www.emotioneric.com/ posted by Jason 1:50 PM Friday, August 22, 2003 I'm going to see Phantom of the Opera tomorrow! Oh my god I'm excited. I even composed a Phantom ring tone for my phone. This is my most favorite show. This show is the reason I wanted to get into broadway. And its the way I met a really good friend. Now we get to go and see it together again. With more friends. EXCELLENT. Oh, and we have awesome seats. posted by Anonymous 1:34 PM Yoda say's: "How bad ass are you, matter's not, still like a punk taken out you can be." Big expensive dinner and dancing in the city, limo, and my hair is all done. The plus of all this is that my entire high school will not be there and neither will Ryan. Perhaps the evening won't end in tears. Mike liked his gifts. We had a good time bonding and talking. And I got my first real hug frm him. posted by Anonymous 12:36 PM Saturday, August 09, 2003 I don't know whether to be worried or frustrated with you, Jason. I am giving Mike the thing tomorrow. My mono never showed up either. It sucked. posted by Anonymous 6:26 PM so i went to the doctor again, and he didnt know what it was, again. they robbed my of four vials of my precious blood though, and hopefully they will tell me something good. the problem with a mono test though, is that only 1/3 of people who have mono actually show it in the test. what the hell is that? stupid freaking mono and its non-conforming. posted by Jason 4:40 PM Thursday, August 07, 2003 good luck sarah. knock em dead. posted by Jason 12:57 PM Tuesday, August 05, 2003 now ive got an ear ache that might be an infection. im just falling apart. posted by Jason 10:30 PM Monday, August 04, 2003 Mono sucks, but not that bad, cause if you have lots of free time, you just sleep a lot. A LOT. Oh, and don't get hit in the slpeen, it'll explode and make you really sick. I had mono...I gave it to the boyfriend and his family at the time. He ended up getting it A LOT worse than me. posted by Anonymous 10:20 PM so apparently its my tonsil (that i didnt even think i had) that is swollen on the right side of my throat. the doc checked for strep and the results were negative. that means its either some viral thing that will play itself out in 7-10 days (damn) or mono (double damn!). im hoping its the former. either way i guess im gonna have a sore throat for a while :( posted by Jason 8:10 PM Take care of that throat, Jason. Mike leaves on the 11th. I'm already sad. Dammit. I'm not supposed to care that much about him. I told him I wasn't ready for him to leave yet and he thought that was strange. I have much less time to shop. That bad cause I was going to compare prices and such, but good cause I hate shopping anyway. I think I'm going to restart the palm pilot today. Its been dead for a while. posted by Anonymous 12:18 PM i just looked down my throat in the mirror, and saw a big swollen area sticking out covering like half my throat. no wonder it hurts so much to swallow. looks like i may be calling a doctor tomorrow. posted by Jason 12:10 AM Sunday, August 03, 2003 Mike called me today. His internet has been cancelled for the month of August since they are moving. Yeah. Just wanted me to tell you guys. He and I are heading out to see "American Wedding" tonight. Hope its not as embarrassing as all the others. We'll see. posted by Anonymous 5:34 PM I'm going to assume yes, since you haven't heard from his family and therefore have started the huge list of things to do. But actually, I haven't heard from him in a while. Maybe he's working a lot or packing? What creeps me out, is that I had a dream about him last night. Ugh. Nothing in that stupid dream could ever happen, but still...he was there. posted by Anonymous 12:23 PM does anyone know if mike is still alive? posted by Jason 11:19 AM Saturday, August 02, 2003 luckily i just kicked some serious ass against some noobies. makes me feel better. posted by Jason 11:43 PM it seems like whenever i find a game i really like online, i hit a wall eventually. i play and play, and after a little while it looks like im gonna get pretty good at it if i continue to improve at the rate im going. then all of a sudden i seem to stop improving and start getting worse. grr. posted by Jason 6:00 PM You know, losing your wallet can totally mess up your whole day. I lost mine today at a ranch in Half Moon Bay. The ridding was great and I got to take charge when Jeff's horse refused to move. Got to canter and nearly gallop on the beach, but I knew the horses would tire out, so I made them pull back and slow down. Bu damn, losing your wallet sucks. I haven't done that since junior year of high school. I had to cancel my debit card and my parents are out of town until they feel like coming home, so I'm forced to carry my check book with me until Monday, cause my bank is only open on weekdays. posted by Anonymous 4:09 PM ug, mixing strawberry honey bunches of oats with wheat chex isnt a good idea. posted by Jason 11:20 AM Friday, August 01, 2003 I hate posting from a mac. The format is all different. Anyway. About a month ago or something, some kids hit my car driver's side mirror and smashed the glass and refused to fess up to it, so I went out and replaced the glass yesterday. While I'm waiting, Brian and I notice that someone has stolen the Jeep logo from my trunk. The metal one glued to the paint and metal of my car!! And they also stole the cherokee logo from the passenger door! What the hell? What does that prove?! Not only that, but someone also stole/smashed the chevy logo from the trunk of my dad's lumina. Neither car is really considered valuable. No damage to other cars in the neighborhood was found. Its like a direct attack on my family or something. I don't get it, but it really pisses me off. posted by Anonymous 1:21 PM |
